"On the Eccentric"

"Much less a king, and more a madman seems
That fool who claims to be the Son of God!
We learned men see right through his facade;
We hear the diabolics he esteems.
Is he insane? Or is it that he schemes
For power with his parlor tricks? A fraud,
Who lies that we who keep the law are flawed,
And he and he alone is who redeems?"

A child does not know its father’s mind.
He sounded like a fool while in the world
Because the world is cunning and unkind,
But truth in love is past the gates impearled.
The faithful whom the world defames as blind
Will see the banners of the Lord unfurled.
