The Savior came to conquer Death;
He looked at it with scorn.
And in the Savior’s final breath,
He did what He had sworn.
The Savior took Death down with Him,
And dealt it many pains.
The Savior tore it limb from limb
And wrapped it up in chains.
The name of Death was once a curse,
And now’s a useless joke.
The Savior came to law reverse
And lifted off its yoke.
Now Death has been defeated,
And the Devil’s at a loss.
The battle, it’s conceded
To the Savior on the cross.
